This landmark report presents the Bangladesh Violence Against Women (VAW) Survey 2024, the third in the national series. Conducted by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics with support from UNFPA, the survey aligns with the rigorous methodological approaches developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and recommended by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD).

The findings reveals that a large majority of ever-married women in Bangladesh have experienced some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) in their lifetime. The research highlights Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) as a new and growing digital threat, while confirming that despite the pervasive violence, a profound culture of silence persists, as most survivors report telling no one about their experiences. This comprehensive effort strengthens the national evidence base for more effective policy and monitoring of international development commitments.
