UNFPA at the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Population Ageing 2026
UNFPA at the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Population Ageing 2026
A platform to exchange knowledge, share experiences and explore innovative solutions to the opportunities and challenges of demographic change.

Population ageing is one of the most significant demographic transformations of our time. Across Asia and the Pacific, countries are experiencing profound changes in how people live, work, care for one another and participate in society. As populations grow older, governments and communities face both challenges and opportunities to build more inclusive, resilient and equitable societies for all generations.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Population Ageing provides a platform to exchange knowledge, share experiences and explore innovative solutions to the opportunities and challenges of demographic change.

Hosted by HelpAge International, UNFPA and the China National Committee on Ageing, the 2026 conference will take place in Hangzhou, China, from 27 to 30 October. Bringing together policymakers, researchers, civil society, international organizations, private sector representatives and older people, the conference will focus on four interconnected themes: the silver economy, technology and artificial intelligence, and sustainable, caring and age-friendly societies.

As a key partner in advancing evidence-based population and development policies, UNFPA will contribute regional perspectives, research and country experiences through high-level discussions, expert panels, side meetings and presentations. These contributions will highlight practical approaches to inclusive development, digital innovation and sustainable care systems, supporting countries in responding to demographic change while ensuring that no one is left behind.
