Efforts to address preventable maternal and newborn mortality gained significant momentum in Cambodia in recent years. This documentary explores how the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) system is contributing to these achievements.

Recognizing the urgent need for systematic monitoring, documentation, and analysis of maternal and perinatal deaths, the Ministry of Health and UNFPA, thanks to the support of the Australian Government, implemented a thorough process of MPDSR roll-out in each province and at national level, to improve case surveillance and response mechanisms. They established cohorts of MPDSR Master Trainers and a network of "allied hospitals", which support each other through the case findings and the implementation of response plans.
