Six months after devastating funding cuts, Afghan women are paying the price.

In the remote highlands of Bamyan, a pregnant woman walked for hours alone and in labour through rugged mountains to reach a small health facility. There was no doctor. No ambulance. Only the hope that someone would be there to help.

A midwife was there. She saved her life.

This midwife is one of thousands of female health workers keeping hope alive in Afghanistan, where one woman dies every two hours from preventable pregnancy or childbirth complications.

But over six million people are now at risk of losing access to essential services, including reproductive health care and psychosocial support.

UNFPA remains on the ground but cannot continue without urgent support.

Donate now to protect women, girls, and the midwives who save lives.

Let’s defend her. Let’s defend hope.
